We are a dynamic and growing medical device company, committed to serving our customers to create innovative and high-quality medical technologies. As we scale our operations, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer / Planner to manage procurement and production planning activities, ensuring material availability aligns with production schedules and customer demand. This role is critical in maintaining supply continuity, cost control, and compliance with medical device regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Source, purchase, and manage materials, components, and services required for production

  • Raise and manage purchase orders in line with MRP recommendations and production plans

  • Monitor supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost) and resolve supply issues proactively

  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers where appropriate

  • Maintain approved supplier lists in compliance with ISO 13485 and internal procedures


Planning & Inventory Control

  • Develop and maintain material plans based on forecasts, sales orders, and production schedules

  • Ensure optimal inventory levels to support production while minimising excess and obsolescence

  • Monitor lead times, safety stock, and reorder points

  • Participate in demand planning and S&OP activities as required


Systems & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate data within ERP/MRP systems (e.g. item masters, lead times, MOQ)

  • Ensure all purchasing and planning activities comply with medical device regulations and quality systems

  • Support internal and external audits by providing procurement and planning documentation


Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk reduction

  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Logistics team

  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and supplier onboarding activities



Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Level 8 qualification required in Supply Chain/Business or related field.

  • 3 + years proven experience in a Buyer, Planner, or Buyer/Planner role

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical devices, pharma or similar preferred)

  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems

  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills with internal teams and external suppliers


Desirable

  • Experience working to ISO 13485 or similar quality standards

  • Knowledge of supply chain planning principles (forecasting, inventory management, lead times)

  • CIPS qualification or working towards (advantageous)
